OTHER PROJECTS

The Trust funds other types of activities that relate to water quality and encourages borrowers to inquire about prospective projects. Projects that provide a water quality benefit will be evaluated by the Trust and DEP who will determine financial eligibility. Here are a few examples of innovative projects that received funding.

Security Cameras Security Equipment
Equipment used to help keep drinking water supplies and treatment plants secure may be eligible for financing. Fundable items include security cameras, alarm systems and fencing.

Solar Panels & Wind Turbines Solar Panels/Wind Turbines
The energy generated by solar panels or wind turbines for treatment plant operations can be financed through the program. The Trust recently financed a solar energy project for a wastewater treatment facility and offset some 2-3 % of the energy needed to power the facility.

Septic systems Septic Management
Failing septic systems can contaminate ground water and surface water, creating a public health hazard. Eligible projects include the purchase and installation of traditional or alternative septic systems (to replace failing systems), rehabilitation of an existing system or construction of community systems.

Lake Dredging Lake Dredging
The removal of silt from lake bottoms improves water quality by increasing dissolved oxygen. This helps re-establish fish populations and boosts overall diversity of aquatic biota.
